I am currently looking in to the 18 ft hewes sportsman, but am a little currios as to how they ride in the water with the councel being so far forward. any one have any input

They ride pretty good, one of the best riding aluminum boats out there. It's only an 18ft boat so it's still going to have its limitations out on big water like lake Michigan but the self bailing deck anHond heavy duty windshield handle the water easy. I would recommend the windshield wipers though, the windows do seems to get sprayed a little more. The standard seats come with some suspension to which help, still overall a very good ride for the size.

Would this be a comfortable size boat for central basin erie plus still small enough for inland resovoirs

Definite yes comfortable and safe The key to a comfortable ride on any boat is matching speed to water conditions We would try our best to get you or any one interested in one of our boars a sea trial and let you be the judge Appointments and a little planning can make this happen
