never too late joe ! a job you can find some enjoyment in is like never having to go to work brian is still here he is just having some serious health problems and has been off work for how long we are not sure when he will come back or even if he will be able to come back/physically capable MMI Florida (marine vocational tech school) charges 27k a year for 4 years of school and they guarantee a entry level to 80% of graduates (minimum wage) job thats a 108k plus interest and don't include room and board you have to spend for a minimum wage job starting pay (we have tried a couple of them) it is what it says it is entry level still need a bunch of training to make a employer happy/profit i can guarantee any one interested in this apprenticeship if they are a self starter with self discipline after 4 years working here they will know a lot more than they would if they attended MMI for four years and graduated owing or investing at least 150k and you wont owe any one 150K kids dont have a chance these days all these schools collect these big dollars you walk out of them with a bunch of debt and NO JOB this goes on far too often in this day and age there is a lot being lost here in handing down knowledge in the form of apprenticeships the minimum wage should be a little more flexible considering apprenticeships VS these trade schools it takes longer for a journey man tech to show some one how some thing is done than it takes ONE journeyman tech to just get the job done and even then a employer in this business has to send techs to factory training each and every year for a tech to keep up with the fast changing technology or a tech quickly looses his ability to make cost effective repairs for the customer and profit for his employer a employer in this business is in fact SHOULD BE investing a bunch of time and money into a employee/apprentice only to hope the guy or girl sticks around long enough that the employment is mutually beneficial. at this point the wages can get pretty good when incentives start kicking in a person that is just looking to make a few bucks and don't plan/want to make a significant investment in time and and dedication to learning as much as they can as fast as they can should look else wear This industry is not going to work for some one with a lot of bills/dept i don't know how these schools expect these kids to pay this money back it is a little better in warmer climates where the marine business is not so seasonable but from what all the guys tell me i have met over the years tell me it is not that much better

The question keeps coming up is this a full time job or it can be part time ? We certainly would consider both but at least for starters is preferably part time commitment and this would be more dependent on the prospects desire and ability to learn

are you a MMI graduate ? did you pay the big money to go to their school and now you owe a bunch of money ? You need to finish wat you started like a graduate school after coledge working experience from working with master technician will tyake you to a level not posible at a trade school you will learn more here working part time for one year than you will ever lean graduating from mmi A good marina or marine service store will expect to be compensated for your training Not by another school loan but by a deticated hard working person with a big appitite to learn repay with loyalty to getting the job dont rite the first time and finishing every thing they started
These schools teach you about new motors to do mainly warranty work warranty work is fine but you need to be able to work on the old stuff they can not tech you about to get to the level of making a good living at this and some day owning your own shop should you choose to do that
we are not picking on mmi or any of the schools are all this way they only prepare you as a entry level YOU NEED A GOOD APPRENTICESHIP its not to late to finish what you started you dont have to walk away with a ton of debt your ass kicked and signing up for a uber job to pay off the school loan
