Lately I have seen more than a couple nice people get screwed buying used equipment
This realy pisses me off !
Used to be when you bought some thing from a private party you could tell if they where a shady person but these days it's not so easy to read
Guys window selling off his old fishing boat
Looks real good and clean
But some one put a bunch of extra oil in the gas to hide the rod knock caused when the oil injection failed
Or the guy who buys a newer motor from a authorized dealer and first time out the alarm is going off
Pull up the history report off the computer and see that it has been run out of oil some 25 different times first time the motor only had 3 hours on it
Motor has a total of 50 hours on it and probably spent most of its like in a shop
Don't tell me he never scanned the motor and did not know some thing was wrong
You can get a history report off the computer and also if you are a authorized dealer you can get a warranty report from the motor manufacturer
What the best way to make sure this don't happen to you???
WHEN BUYING USED ''!!!'!'',,,,,,,,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never ever buy any thing you can't spend a hour or two driving around in
You probably would never buy a used car with out a test ride why even consider buying a boat with out one??
This alone will uncover 95% of the possible things that can be wrong
If there is a funny smell or sound or or smoke any thing does not seem rite then take it to a dealer and have it checked out
BEFORE YOU BUY !!
The important thing is the ride
Just taking it to a dealer is not as good as taking a ride first and then asking what about this or that ??
You are giving some important information what and where to look at and the dealer can do a lot better job checking it out for you
Also most of the newer computer controlled motor will have a memory some store more info than other but most all of them record major bd events like a over heat or run with out oil ect
There is always the possibility that a bad sensor can cause one of these problems but not likely
These major faults can not be erased
This is not replacement for common sense looking over a motor is simple it should be clean no sign of abuse
Please don't get taken by one of these people trying to sell crap
It's just no fun telling some one this new thing you just bought needs some major repairs
This realy pisses me off !
