OK
sorry! if it sounded like I was bashing lund boats that's not what I was doing
I openly admit lund is not the only boat company that has a transom rotting problem

was put up here to help the guys that have this problem and get it fixed
I can not physically fix all of them that need fixing I am trying to save my customers a ton of money and hopefully earn their business. Yes , may be sell them a Hewes craft or a Raider boat BUT NOT bashing lund or any other boat co. if any thing lunds hold their value more than other brands that's why we redo more lunds than any other they are more likely to worth repairing vs scrapping
when I set out to do a post on this subject the lund was next in line so please get off my back on this !!
I am trying to keep more guys in the game. Most guys cant afford to just run out and buy a new boat like some dealers tell them
"best buy a new boat this one is not worth fixing " bull s**t
let me add 3 ways to greatly prevent delay the transom rotting issue
#1 reseal motor mounts every couple of years not to tough to take one bolt out at a time and put a liberal amount of new calking on it preferably the correct type but any new is better than any old
#2 watch the transom cap just like a fender on you car if you see the paint bubbling rot/corrosion is going un underneath reseal the transom cap
#3 remove the stern corner caps apply a liberal amount of caulking to these caps and reinstall
on most boat these are not caulked from the factory water runs down the gunnel under the caps across the transom and into the bilge this is also a good way to keep more water out of the bilge
I don't think I need to apologize for the way Hewes craft and Raider make their boats these transoms are not going to rot any time soon If these boat catch any more fish its only because their owners might be making better decision's
