The "Chummer" story:
My father was responsible for instilling my fishing & hunting culture, god bless him! My first experience w/ salmon was late 60's in Platte Bay MI in our 16' "Cadillac". In retirement my late father "Charlie" spent summers at Mullet Lake MI and fishing salmon out of Cheboygan MI. He called me one day after a great outing and wanted me to go buy every spoon (of a particular pattern, which I no longer recall) I could find and ship to him at the lake. I cleaned out this tackle store. When checking out the owner asked me what charter boat I ran. Without a blink I looked at him and said "Charlie's Chummer". I shared the story with dad. The next time I saw dad's boat, I was stunned to see "Charlie's Chummer" graphics blazed across the sides. I eventually bought the Sea Nymph GL Special from him and shortened the handle to just Chummer. My last outing with dad was a limit by 7:30 out of Arcadia MI in 2005, a memory & picture I cherish My new Hewes is a dream come true. I contempated a whole list of names, to realize that only "Chummer" is appropriate for so many reasons! My dad would love this boat!
