Winner of the 2012 NMEA technology award is the new FUSION 700 series. This stereo not only sounds and looks great it is NMEA 2000 compatible. Because it is NMEA 2000 compatible it enables select Multi Function Displays (most newer Garmin and Raymarine units) to take advantage of FusionLink technology which means you can have complete control of your stereo from your chartplotter. The NMEA 2000 network also allows your stereo to repeat some critical navigation details on your stereo like speed, location, direction. Another useful feature is that the Fusion 700 series allows for setup of 4 different zones which allows for very easy independent volume control. So your cabin, helm, and stern can all have different levels of volume. It is available in 2 different models, IPod and DVD. The difference is what is behind the flip down face, flip one down and there is a large slot for an iPod or other mp3 player, flip down the other one and there is a cd slot. The IPod version is the more popular and roughly sells for about $350.
