Hi Frank, thought I'd pose a question to you. My '07 115hp efi 4 stroke mercury has a habit of dieing when shifting INTO neutral from either forward or reverse. It does not die when shifting into either gear. Pretty annoying when trying to dock. Engine always starts, runs great, trolls perfect. Just thought I'd see if you might have an idea or two for a non experienced mechanic like myself to look for or at. Google searches talked of a idle control valve and shift interruptor switch, not even sire if I even have those or where they could be found. I'm in Lafayette or else I would let you look at it. Thanks in advance for any advice or help.

I am gushing it does not have a shift interrupt But for sure has a IAC valve With the mercury computer software the idle air control solenoid should be qualified / calibrated / adjusted Also a dirty throttle body can cause these problems

Thanks for the comeback. Obviously over my head, I'm going to have to deal with it, or take it to a shop. Problem now is it'll be sitting for a month to get serviced..lol. I might deal with it til august then have it serviced. Thanks again.
I need the new software for the computer to do the newer mercury motor so I wish I could be more help This is some thing that should not be touched with out the proper tools and training Ti will not doubt get worse not better if the rite toold and training are not used What a lot of guys don't know is if a 4 stroke motor falls even slightly below the specified idle speed the top of the motor does not get lubricated properly at idle/ trolling speeds This can cause major internal engine damage Not all engine damage accurs under heavy loads and speeds most guys think all wear and tear is under heavy loads this is just not the case
