i remember whe i was in kindergarden or first grade not sure but sitting on these rocks at night under the lights in the park with my grandpa perch fishing rite in this spot in the picture the water at the time was about 3-4 foot deep and the perch would come in there at night to spawn on the sand my graps told me Well this was in the late 60s and suposedly the lake was very low at the time so as close as i can tell by my memory the lake must be lower than it ever has been as least as of last night when i took these pictures with my phone i know the lake is low but just could not belive how low i would extimate at least in chicago 90% of out launch ramps are going to be useless for much if not all of the next season how low can it go ? wow it is low less than 12" of water at the end of the ramp today if you look close at the 4th picture you can see the sheet pile end of the ramp in less that 12" or water I dont think you could have launched much more than a canoe or kayak here today

the few ramps that are useable next year are going to be crowded for sure.i did some measuring at the marina i am in.looks like i will be ok in my slip next year but if we lose another 30 inches next year like they predict i will be screwed for 2014.hope it all turns around soon.

two senators from the carolinas back in the early 70s sued the federal goverment Wallop Breaux (not sure of the spelling)
thier suit claimed that the federal government was unfairly taxing them that the federal road tax being charged to boaters was unfair and that a big percentage of these boats being taxed will never be on any roads they won this suit and ever sinse them .0001% of the federal gas tax collected is put into this fund federal Wallop Breaux fund the best part of this is they wrote the rules to strictly limit grants from this fund earmarked for boating safety education and safe boat access restricting it from any sort of law enforcement the account is swelling at the seems because most municipalities do not have any one qualified to fill out the grant forms properly in most cases its cheaper to put in a new launch ramp than rebuild a old one encourage your local goverments to seek out these and other funds set aside for safe boating and boating access its only in thier best interest AND OURS can not fish if you can not get the boat in the water !!!
before they find a way to take this money and use it some where else !! they have already made amendmets to this law to take money out lets get some of it for new better ramps before it is all gone this is what it was set aside for start the charge now to save the next fishing season lets take our share of them fish out of the lake before they have a excuse to further reduce stocking and use the money for the salmon stamps some where else as well
federal Wallop Breaux fund

Fox reports Lake Michigan is 17 inches lower than same date last year.
I am glad to be second from the end on the floating dock at MC.
